About the Bee Film Festival

Learn more about the festival

The BEE Film Festival is an international Brazilian festival that has two annual editions: BEE Lesbian + BEE Women.

BEE Lesbian is the original version of the festival, focused on lesbian films. The festival came about with the need to give visibility to films with lesbian narratives and encourage the production of sapphic content in the audiovisual medium, creating an opportunity for filmmakers from all over the world to show their lesbian-themed films. It still encourages openly LBTQ filmmakers to continue producing, with one of the festival's categories being "Best LBTQ Director (Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender or Queer)".

BEE Women is the other side of BEE. Here, we prioritize films made by women, for women. Our goal is to celebrate women filmmakers from all over the world, giving them the opportunity to show their work and discover films made by other women. Our focus is also on giving visibility to female narratives, which include the different stories experienced by women around the world.
